Well, I have another deep subject to post for your amusement. Here is a link to a skit from a show called: Portlandia. It deals with the silly pretensions of art and artworld stuff. I class it right up there with the episode of Murphy Brown, wherein Eldon had a gallery show of a ceiling mural – totally awesome. The Portlandia piece is only 3 mins though, so a bit easier to see quickly. Enjoy.
Day 2 1/2
And another review: http://www.kansas.com/2013/04/21/2771314/reunion-of-the-dead-artists-still.html
We seem to be gathering a bit of steam. I have spent today resting, as I have to go full-court press again tomorrow (another Monday). My personal LOL Cat:
Day 2
I thought I would let all of you know that I will be in a show through May 27th, in Wichita, Ks.
Below is the postcard
and here is the url for a review: http://kmuw.org/post/art-review-pushin-daisies
As some of you may know, I am a member of the FDA, and have enjoyed showing with them a number of times through the past decades. FDA began as a group of unestablished artists, looking for a way to show their work, when no-one would do it for them. We begged people to let us use their space for one night stand art happenings – from vintage furniture stores, to hair salons (go Planet Hair). Because of the hard work of other members, our shows became ‘must do’ events 2x a year, especially our Halloween themed affairs (works well with the group name). They became all night extravaganza parties ( I seldom lasted past 10 o’clock as I am just not a party animal). We got some excellent press (Thank you Norm), and usually sold out everything. It was a happy time.
I have made a special project just for this show, called ‘Flyover Country”. Unusually for me, it is photos. Well, the actual project is postcards with photos of contrails with beautiful colors from sunrise/sunsets. They all have the catch phrase on the reverse :
Flyover Country! is a look at what we here
in the middle see of you there on the coasts
WISH YOU WERE HERE!
And I have some in bundles packages up that say: A Packet of Postcards From the Middle of Nowhere. It was fun. I will eventually post them up for all to see, but not til after the show is over.
This show will be the first in a decade – our high school reunion. I have seen the work and it will be an awesome show. We are have a closing, instead of an opening (a wake of sorts – seems appropriate with the overall theme)and it should be a good time for any of you who are in town when it happens.
Til next time, enjoy the morning.
Building a new web site, Day 1.
Well, the world and humans work in mysterious ways. I swore I would never again try to build a web site by myself, because webspeak and related tachnotalk make me bug**** crazy(er). However, I have never been accused of being too smart to hit my head against a brick wall just for run.
This website is under construction.
As I attempt to gain more expertise, I will begin posting galleries and creating potentially interesting content. I will keep the interweb informed of my progress.
